Textual Analysis

Image result for the i newspaper front covers

1) What type of text is this?

This is an i newspaper front cover.

2) How do you know? What are the key conventions that allowed you to identify the text?

The multiple headlines across the page, the price in the top left corner, the bar-code in the bottom left, the newspaper logo in the top left, one main headline in the centre of the cover and multiple pictures surrounding the headlines.

3) In your opinion, who is the target audience?

From looking at the cover I think the target audience will be 25 year olds and above. This is because the majority of the headlines are based around politics, elections, mp's etc. A younger group of people(under 18)wouldn't be able to relate as they are unable to vote or have a say so the stories may be of no interest to them.

4) How would the audience access the text?

The audience would be able to consume this text by buying it in a local shop. I know this cause of the price in the top corner and the bar-code at the bottom shows that it has to be purchased. This could be read at anytime, possibly when people are routing to and from work.

5) What values, ideologies and beliefs in society are reinforced or challenged in this media text?

The idea of politics are strongly reinforced on this front cover as the main headline and two other headlines are surrounding this topic. Also religion is reinforced with a story about the Pope in the top left.
