Image result for 50 cent reebok commercial

1) Analyse this RBK 50 Cent advert using the key media language you learned today: denotation, connotation, colour, pose, framing, composition, size, type of shot, subject matter, setting, lighting.

The product being advertised is a pair of Reebok trainers, which appears to be aimed at young adults(17-25). The popular rapper 50 cent is used to promote the product as he is  well known and people trust him and his opinions. A close up has been used so we can see 50 cents facial expressions clearly. The darkness of the poster creates tension. The finger prints in the background connote law-breaking. We are given the impression that 50 cents fingerprints have been taken by police as forensic evidence. The darkness and finger prints connote violence and danger. 50 Cent may be associated with crime as well due to his past. This could be a negative thing for Reebok as they don't want to loose more customers than they are gaining. His clothing is quite typical of someone who hangs around in gangs in America. Loose vest tops on men suggest they are informal, uninterested in their appearance and overall laid back This could also be a negative however some people may respect that 50 cent has become so big even with his background.

Image result for coca cola advert

The product being advertised is Coca-Cola. I think the target audience is 15-25 year olds. This is because natural selection is taught to teens in their last year in high school, meaning they would be able to understand the tagline of the advert. Also the bright colours across the whole advert are likely to attract the attention of a younger audience as the colours may be overwhelming for the elderly for example. The reference to the pre-historic figures suggest that the product is reliable as its been enjoyed for many years. The fact that the brand name has been fragmented shows that Coca-Cola know they have a trusty customer/fan base.
